Happy (Almost) Halloween

We’re starting to decorate for the Halloween season. On the Contests Page of my website, there are notices for two contests! There will be many more, and I’m making some of the prizes myself. This is my favorite time of year–not only is it Halloween, but it’s my daughter’s birthday. I think she’s a pretty snazzy person and I’m really glad she was born.

My coauthor, Debbie Viguie, and I are both huge Halloween freaks and I just heard from her that it’s boiling hot in Florida, where she lives. It’s hot here in San Diego, too. No frost on the pumpkins for us, unless it’s stunt frost!

San Diego has had two huge fires right before Halloween, in 2003 and 2006. I had a book drive during the first fire, and many “celeb” authors donated books, including Laurell K. Hamilton and David Fury, who has worked on Buffy, Angel, Lost, 24, and many, many other shows. I’m hopeful we are fire free this Halloween season! We are much more careful to keep away brush from our houses, and replace shake roofs with tile. My house has a Spanish tile roof. So fingers crossed!

And I do hope it gets a little cooler!
