The book contains adaptations of four stories by four women writers who were famous in their day, but who have been largely forgotten by the reading public: Elizabeth Gaskell, Amelia Edwards, Margaret Strickland, and Edith Nesbit. Following each lavishly and lovingly illustrated adaptation, we present the original text of the story, as well as variant art. I received my own copies yesterday and I am stunned!
